Hawaii County Civil Defense is hosting a Disaster Preparedness Fair on Saturday.

The event is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo.

This fair is to raise community awareness about disaster preparedness, emergency response and community resilience.

Learn about the hazards in your area, what you are most susceptible to, and how you can better prepare yourself in the event of an emergency.

There will be a wide variety of partners at the fair, ranging from local county entities to federal agencies — all with the common goal of informing the public about disasters as it pertains to their role.

Learn about how Hawaiian Volcano Observatory tracks volcanic activity, how Pacific Tsunami Warning Center tracks tsunamis, how National Weather Service monitors tropical cyclones, and much more.

Learn how to create an evacuation kit, build your own family plan catered to your needs, and enhance the resilience in your community. Along with all the valuable information, the public can also participate in giveaways, keiki ID services, enjoy delicious food and meet their emergency management professionals face to face.

Don’t miss your opportunity to increase your preparedness to all hazards Hawaii faces.
